The New York State Trappers Association holds an annual convention every year at the Herkimer County fairgrounds in Frankfort NY. This website is just a year old so we only currently have pictures from 2005 and up. Each years convention will get its own page with info about that years events. You can get to these pages by clicking on the patches below. We are always looking for volunteers to help us set up and take down so if your interested just let us know. I hope you enjoy taking a look back at the conventions past, and look forward to the conventions of tomorrow.

2005

This is the first year that the site has pictures for. As always it was a great convention. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Good turnout, good weather, good fun.

2006

2006 marked the first convention without Dave Corse who passed away in 2005. He headed up the annual convention for many years and worked the loudspeaker. Vice-President Bill Ballou set up a convention committee to take over planning for the convention. They did an excellent job and the turnout was great. Good work guys.

2007

This was a great year. Earlier in the year NYSTA hosted the NTA NE Regional Convention. It was a big draw and a lot of fun. Skip forward to September and the same excitement was still in the air. The fairgrounds had finally completed their brand new pole barn which is where the demo's will now be housed. All in all the turn out was great and there was great fun to be had all around.

The NYSTA Convention was headed up almost entirely by Dave Coarse before he passed away a few years ago. NYSTA set up a committee to run the convention in his place. The convention had been headed up by Dave for so long that no one really knew what to do or how to set up and run the convention. The past few years have ran very smoothly and the committee has the convention down to a science just about. Here are its members:

Bill Ballou

Bill as most of you probably know is the current Vice President of NYSTA. He is enjoying his second term in office. He has been a trappers since the age of seven. He served his country in the Navy for six years. He has served as Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Police Commissioner, Department of Public Works Commissioner, and Personal Commissioner for the Village of Camden. He has been with NYSTA since 1970 and served as the Region 6 Director until he was elected Vice President. He has also been a trapper training instructor since the 1980's.

Wayne Jones

Wayne was born in and grew up trapping in western New York. His ongoing 20 year career in the Air Force though carried him away from the state for over 15 years. He is back in the state and still serving his country as an Air Force recruiter. He is and Active life time member of NYSTA and even ran for Vice President last year. He is alway one of the if not the first to arrive to help set up the conventions and always one of the last to leave.

Scott Lehtonen

Bob Hughes

Bob is a past president of NYSTA. He is always helping out at the conventions and is always there early. He serves as NYSTA's auctioneer at the annual convention where he goes on for hours. It's definitely a site to see. The picture to the left is of him lending his expertise during the NYSTA auction.
